I am going to write about one of the most important helicopters in the Spanish air force, the as332, better known as “superpuma”. This helicopter is used for many different things, from transporting people, to evacuating combat wounded in Iraq or Afghanistan.
A characteristic of this helicopter is that is equipped with a landing gear with wheels, as planes have, instead of the common immobile skids. This landing gear is retractile, so when the helicopter is up in the air, the wheels are hidden.
The helicopter is equipped with 1 mast and four blades, it also has a very resistant cowling since it is designed to withstand the damage. The stabiliser bar has a circle shape, and the synchronised elevator is near the tail rotor.
In the front part, the cockpit has two seats, that allow the pilots to have more control of the aircraft, and in the back it has a big space which is used by the medical staff or by the soldiers, who include machine guns in the fuselage.
