Spanish Air Force counts on a great amount of aircrafts on its entire feet. These aircrafts can be divided in rotatory wing and fixed wing, dividing this last group also into two (depending on their mission): jet figther and transport. This text aim is to describe one of the best exponents of transport missions, not only in the Spanish Air Force, but also in many armys around the world, which is the Lockheed C-130 Hercules.
This plane is characterized by its versatility, with a weight of 40t and being able to reach a high speed of 600 km/h thanks to its four turboprop engines. Apart from that, its incredibly great fuel tank allows it to make large missions without landing for restocking and to supply other planes with fuel within the mission.
This jewel of the Spanish fleet has been at the service of our country for almost 50 years, joining the Ala 31 on the latest 70s and participating in countless national and international missions.
Due to recent modernisations on its aviation system and several other improvements, its operative life has been increased, which means that this incredible plane still has great work to do for our country.
