The C-130 Hercules is one of the most popular military planes. It was created more than sixty years ago and has been being improved since then. The company behind this creation is Lockheed Martin, an American enterprise that has made some of the most impressive aircrafts. It is still being used in more than fifty countries including the United States, Spain and Mexico. It has been used in almost every war since it was created and has such a low accident rate.
The main characteristic of this fixed-wing plane is its four turboprop engines and its huge fuselage. There are several variations of this aircraft, like the AC-130 or the C-130H, and each has unique characteristics. Its landing gear is very tough which allows the plane to land almost anywhere the pilot could need, this includes snow, dirt, wet floor and in some cases aircraft carriers.
This plane can be used for many roles, such as being a gunship, like the AC-130 variation, scientific research, airborne troops transport, passenger transport and vehicle transport. Some of the variations are used for firefighting because it can drop water or chemicals in places where human access is impossible.
