The air refuel is an extraordinary maneuver which is made by the best pilot of the wolrd. It is quite dangerous due to the pilot is in a extressful situation, besides, although the pilot is doing everything correctly, one mistake could make an air accident.
This maneuver have to be trained for weeks with different simulators, but it is not enough to carry out it. Once it has been trained a lot, the instructors must fly with the alumns to teach them all about the refuel, also they should correct each mistake of the young pilot.
Eventually, when the pilot is able to make it correctly, he will start training by him/her own.
This maneuver is based in two airplanes, one of them must be very big, it has to have fuel inside, the other one usually are a samall plane, for instance, in the spanish air force we practice this maneuver with the F-18. It consist, basically, in refuel the small plane which must be inclined until it connect whith the other one by tube where the fuel is running.
