 In the beginnings planes had to make maneuvers to control the plane in a similar way than today. Nowadays, planes are getting more and more sophisticated, making impressive maneuvers to climb, descend, or turn. 

Planes can roll with the help of the ailerons, this maneuver plus the pitch can make the plane to turn thanks to the elevator. Another maneuver made by a plane is to climb using the elevator for this purpose and pulling the nose up, as well as descending which push the nose down using the elevator. It is also used the rudder which changes yaw axis to control the direction of the plane and sometimes it is also used to turn. 

Modern aircrafts make these maneuvers at a high speed making it being harder than before and more impressive. Modern aircrafts also have same facilities to make these maneuvers easier like the G-tolerance or the air brakes. 

These main maneuvers are essential for a flight, starting to be harder than before, without them a plane couldn’t turn, take off land, etc.
