Since the beginning of aviation in the 19th century there has been a great effort in order to improve the way an aircraft moves, therefore modern aircraft have developed a wide range of maneuvers that allow the pilot having a better control and more accuracy when a mission requires soee specific maneuvers.
First of all, the physical concept that lies under a maneuver is the change of one of the aircraft’s axis through the time. It is necessary to remark that a modern aircraft has three axes of movement: the longitudinal axis which allows the pilot to roll, the vertical axis capable of changing yaw and last but not least, the lateral axis which creates a change on pitch.
In addition, despite the fact that every pilot should be able to perform some of the common maneuvers there are group of pilots, which usually belong to some national air forces, that are highly trained in order to perform the most demanding ones. A great example of that is the famous and well known Spanish “Eagle Patrol”.
In conclusion, the evolution of modern aircraft has bring a wide scenario of new maneuvers, unthinkable not that long ago.
