The Spanish Air Forces take care of the defense of our air space
everyday. This Air Force is formed by thousands of soldiers who work together
for making this task in an optimal way, but it couldn´t be posible without the
incredible aircrafts that our army has. The aim of this text is to describe one
of our air attack planes, which is the Mc Donnell Douglas EF-18 Hornet.
This fighter has been flying in Spain
since the 80’s, being part of the Ala 12 in Torrejón, the Ala 15 in Zaragoza
and the Ala 46 in Gran Canaria. The F-18, with a weight 12700 kg, is able to
reach a high speed of 1.8 Mach (almost double the sound speed), thanks to its
two double flux general electric f404 engines. It is armed with a wide variety
of missiles
