WRITING 4 MANUEL SÁNCHEZ PORTILLO

The different flying maneuvers that a plane is able to carry out make planes probably the most complex vehicle to drive among all the others. Comparing aircraft with cars, for example, we will soon realize that non-flying vehicles only move in the vertical axis, that is to say, they only can move right and left (and towards or backwards), because they run just in the horizontal plane.

On the other side, planes move over the whole sky, therefore, they move on the three axes. On the vertical axis we find the same type of movement that cars make, which in this field is called yaw, and it is caused by the part of the plane known as rudder. Then we have the lateral axis, where, thanks to the elevators, a plane can ascend or dive depending on the aim of the pilot during the flight. Finally, in the longitudinal axis, a plane can roll due to the movement of the deflecting elevators, allowing the pilot to turn in the trajectory of the plane.

These maneuvers, apart from making flying a really difficult task, also makes it an incredibly beautiful show to see from those who are truly experts, such as the “Patrulla Águila” in the Spanish Air Force.
