WRITING 5 ALBERTO ESPESO CURIEL

Every pilot needs to have a good communication system, no matter the kind of aircraft he is flying. Transmissions are used in every mission, this includes from the attack of an Eurofighter in Afganistan to a mission that consists of an A400 transporting food to Madrid. But, how do the pilots and the air controllers communicate?

Firstly, it is clear that messages have to be as clear as fast, human lives can be depending on the arrival of this communication. This is why the phonetic alphabet was invented, we can name a few examples of this alphabet, like “Zulu”, that is used for Z, or “Delta”, used for the letter D.

Another kind of codes used for this radio communications are the ones known as prowords, that are short words with a concrete meaning used to avoid that interferences in the radio cause misunderstanding problems, some of this words are roger (received), wilco, negative (no)...

Finally and to conclude, I would highlight the importance of knowing this codes, because a miscommunication during a mission can cause a lot of damage. It is important for the tower of control and the pilots to be in constant contact all the time.
