Since their creation in 1903, aircrafts have come a long way in terms of
technology on board. One large technological advance that
revolutionized the safety of airplanes is radio communication.
Radio communication has been a fundamental aspect in airplane safety
since it was introduced. This communication allows for planes to stay in
contact with other planes, know their location, and much more.
Another area where planes use radio communication is taking off and
landing. When planes take off and land, they must wait on the runway for
the airspace to be clear, so they do not crash into other planes, radio
communication makes this possible by allowing the pilots to speak with
the air traffic control tower and make sure that there are no other
airplanes in the way, and they are clear for takeoff.
One final reason that radio communication is important on airplanes is
for emergencies in the air. If anything were to happen on the airplane,
such as they needed to make an emergency landing, they would need to
call in to the nearest airport, and radio communication allows them to do
so.
In short, I would like to emphasize that modern day airplanes would not
be complete, nor safe, without radio communication, something that has
proven to be a fundamental aspect in airplanes today.
