At the time an aircraft takes off, all the passengers, the crew and the pilot, separate themselves from the rest of the civilization for a period of time that goes from a few minutes in the shortest flights, to near a whole day in others. That makes necessary to establish a way of communication between them and the people that control the flight from solid ground and wait for them to land safely.
As we all know, these aircrafts are able to reach heights of thousands of meters. Taking this into account and the fact that some flights are for military and, therefore, secret reasons, the most reliable way of communicating is radio signals.
Also, it should be pointed the way in which this radio communications are used, making use of a phonetic alphabet, assigning a word for each letter, in order not to confuse them; or using some prowords which provide quick ways to communicate longer messages.
This method allows them to establish contact with the control tower in order to keep the flight safe and, just in case of an emergency, follow the instructions given from a whole team which is looking after the security of that flight.
