Radio communications play a major role in today’s aircraft control and it have been being used almost since they were invented. They are used for communications between aircrafts and for communication with the crew working on land.
These communications are very important for various factors, the conditions during the flight may vary and the aircraft commander should know them instantly. This apply to weather conditions, changes in mission objective or actions that the commander is allowed to make. They could also be very important for the landing; the pilot needs to know when he will be able to land and in which conditions.
Communicating during the flight is very important for coordinating defences or attacks, each plane most of the times has a different point of view and it is very valuable being able to share it. In addition, land radars are more powerful, in general, so the information collected by them is useful for the men in the air.
In light of the above, it seems obvious that intercepting or blocking radio communications could lead to a great advantage in a combat situation, especially in aircrafts.
