Radio communications have traditionally been used as a way of establishing a connection between different points. In each point there´s a person in charge of using the corresponding prowords to be able to be understood and to send messages and information.

Furthermore, when being in such stressful maneuvers, as pilots in their aircrafts experience, the answers need to be short and clear to guarantee the safety of the one in the airplane. 

So, to sum up, radio communications are very important to make sure pilots are safe in every possible circumstance. Just a couple of seconds can make the difference.
