First of all, nowadays everybody use radio commmunications, we use it when we call someone with our phone, or when we listen to music. Airplanes of course, need it, due to when planes are at 7000ft there is not coverage and anything like that, so they need the radio in order to communicate with the control tower. But… is it that much needed?

The answer is YES. Pilots do a lot of difficult maneouvers, and they need lot of information to accomplish them. For example, for landing, they have to recive from the control tower the altitud, the speed, the weather conditions, the wind… and the same when pilots are going to take off. 

Furthermore, another reason why radio communnications are important could be the neccessity of keep in contact with the people on the ground, if a pilot has any emergency, thanks to radio communications, it can be solved more efficiently and faster, also,there are more people that could help than the two pilots of the cabin. 

Finally I have to say that Radio Communnications are essential for aircrafts. Without them, planes couldn´t fly as safe as they do.
